The heart of God the Father is for all people to know His joy. In response to God’s heart, our purpose as a church is to love God passionately, and live Christ compassionately in our region and beyond. It is our prayer that as we grow in being informed about the need for the gospel in the world, we’ll become more involved in sharing our passion for God with others.

The Great Commission

In Acts 1:8, Jesus summarizes the Great Commission, telling the church to reach out to four areas concurrently:

Jerusalem - the local city
Judea - the region around the local city
Samaria - a region near the local city that is culturally and ethnically different
The Ends of the Earth - the world beyond our city and region

Our Response

The four areas we intentionally reach out to:

Our Jerusalem: Greater Hartford
Our Judea: New England
Our Samaria: Dominican Republic
The Ends of the Earth: The world outside North America

Our Goal

Our goal is for each person at Wintonbury to know a lot about one missionary and a little about all of our missionaries.
We do this through:

  1. Each Wintonbury attendee is encouraged to pray for at least one missionary
  2. Each missionary has at least seven people committed to regular prayer
  3. Overseas missionaries have a Life Group praying for them

  1. Each missionary has a champion who regularly keeps in touch with them
  2. Champions and Life Groups send care packages
  3. Champions help missionaries with home assignments

  1. Each overseas missionary connects with Wintonbury during a worship service every two years
  2. People from Wintonbury visit our missionaries on-site
  3. Champions host sharing parties for missionaries when they are on home assignments
