THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

DR. FERNANDO & ALTAGRACIA GONZALES, serving with Students International, live in and minister to the community of Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. Dr. Fernando shares the gospel throughout Jarabacoa and surrounding areas as he provides medical services to the poor. He educates families by speaking at schools and churches about health and wellness, STD's and tropical diseases. In addition to being the supervisor for the Physical Therapy, Dentistry, and Community Health sites, Dr. Fernando also serves in pastoral care, leading staff Bible studies and offering counsel when needed.

PRAYER POINTS
Current prayer needed for:

  • Tita's health (Fernando's wife, has been dealing with gallstones this year).

  • Amy's college planning (Fernando's and Tita's daughter, is a high school senior, hoping to attend college in the US to study physical therapy).

  • Ministry challenges related to covid (travel restrictions and covid fears/concerns have impacted the number of teams willing to commit to medical trips with Students International Jarabacoa).

  • Budget challenges - there is a Dominican doctor that wants to serve with SI but currently there is not enough in the budget to support her. She grew up locally in Jarabacoa and attended medical school in DR. This is the first chance in many years of having two native Dominican doctors on staff with SI and Fernando really wants to see it happen.
